It is understood to be a result of corporate "pagewaxing."
"Page-waxing" is the now-steady practice of large companies who use their advertising or other pressures to have web sites deleted which are derogatory or otherwise offensive to that company's profit outlook. Never mind that it's illegal; it's common practice. It appears that Microsoft brought it to a state of art by using their own programmers to quietly hack sites considered "bitterly critical" of the software giant.
Whatever the explanation for so many sites disappearing, the same hands that built all 500-plus
Masters and Millionaires sites... took the precaution, even while under federal prison sentence to make changes in each of the 12000-page Who's Who Worldwide sites...
and then upload to ... ... well, let's just say many dozens of servers on several continents. If indeed Reed Elsevier, owner of Marquis Who's Who, has been pagewaxing, felicitations for their success in locating EVERY Who's Who Worldwide Registry web site are unlikely to be
